What is a ring of LED light?

Frequently used for close-up photography, a light-emitting diode (LED) light ring typically consists of a donut-shaped frame that contains LED lights arranged in a circle. fitting over the camera lens, this type of lighting provides illumination without shadows. LED lighting projects are available in different ring sizes with different styles of lights. functionality and power source options for different devices together with the price. in addition to macro, LED ring lights have numerous industrial applications.

As a ring of light has always carried a circular arrangement of light with a diameter circular shaped internal structure, the outer perimeter of the frame may be circular, square or hexagonal. The intensity of light and color depends on the light bulbs used in a ring of LED light. ring light photography may contain a minimum of 12 light LED, 0.31 inch (8 mm) in size, or as many as 144 led bulbs, 0.1-inch (3 mm) in size. while the 12-lamp version has a ring of lights, larger units can hold up to five concentric rows. Design LED bulbs manufacturers in every color of the visible spectrum of light, in addition to making the infrared or ultraviolet light bulbs. units are also available with speakers or reflectors, which photographers use to soften or concentrate the light.

Various designs allow for varying degrees of function ring of light. simple LED light ring is limited to on and off, more complex versions separate the rings into halves or quadrants. Photographers can then turn on or off each section individually, or control the intensity of light. while a hot shoe camera has a strobe flash light, manual control switches to provide a greater diversity of function.

Sources of energy for the ring lights are also versatile. AA, or use many built-in lithium batteries and some units are equipped with AC adapters or direct current. big, expensive professional LED light rings connected directly to the wall jack. Prices vary greatly depending on the size and quality, but creative individuals capable of building a do-it-yourself (DIY) led ring light for a fraction of the cost.

As LED ring lights typically use little power, emit virtually no heat and last longer than incandescent or fluorescent bulbs, many industries employ the use of the versatile unit. in addition to photography, the rings of light gained popularity for light microscopic and are widely used in biotechnology, health and research laboratories. sectors and forensic gemology use LED ring lights and manufacturers to deploy devices to illuminate conveniently individual pieces of machinery.

LED Technology

The concept of LED technology (light-emitting diodes, light emitting diodes), seems to have been 'discovered' only now the most modern and innovative companies operating in market sectors such as automotive, computer, lap-tops, modern systems lighting.

These companies have dedicated the LED as a completely new technology capable of offering them and their customers many important benefits. Is compared to previous products of other vendors, the LED solution provides better results, such as reducing production costs, a greater and more consistent product quality, and a reduced environmental impact.

The significant increase in activity for the development of printing solutions based on LED technology, which is found among the largest producers in the industry, shows that this market segment is not immune from this trend.

There is no doubt that the confirmation of LEDs as a viable alternative to laser-based printing technology, is due to its ability to meet the need for certainty on the return on investment typical of the difficult economic times like the present. This is particularly reflected in the mid / small business market, where companies must compete with larger competitors and with more budget, and all this in an increasingly competitive market.

The secret is here, with a market of printing solutions was definitely geared toward the digital LED technology. A trend more than justified, because both producers and users appear to be not simply an option that 'it would be nice to have' but a decisive choice to get a print in a more efficient company.

          This TV is so cool and light. Sony cannot make a better tv than this. The picture quality is absoulutely crisp and perfect. LED's makes all the difference compared to LCD's. Hooked my my region free dvd player via HDMI, Blu Ray Player via HDMI, Bose Home Theatre via HDMI, and last but not least my PS3 via HDMI and it's on a wall mount.

I have been a faithful fan to the line of Sony Bravia TV's for a while. This will make my third Bravia, but my first LED. The other two(55" & 47") are an LCD. I did have the requirement of a motion processor (120HZ) in all TVs. It is a must for me. I like my action movies, gaming & sports. This is my first week with the 40" LED. Picture quality? I am not sure yet. Right now my LCD TVs produce a nicer picture. Factory settings on the new LED seem to make the picture dark. Yes, I am playing with settings all the time. I have HD cable service and usually a good test station to see the quality of picture your television can produce is by watching National Geo or a news station channel. Those two stations always produce a good picture. Not this time for some reason. Right now, I am kind of bummed out that my LCD TVs are producing a nicer picture then this LED. Maybe, I just have not found that sweet spot on the settings yet.

Speakers/Audio - My LCD TVs unfortunately have better sound then this slim line LED. The slimmer they make these TVs the quality of sound decreases. Speaker technology can not keep up in making a speaker that small capable of producing a nice sound. Will not happen for a while. So, invest in a nice home sound system. I am using the Bose 3-2-1 sound system, not a high end system ($800.00) but a nice sounding system with my 55" Bravia. The Bravia LCD produces an awesome picture when playing a DVD or Blue Ray DVD movie. With the Bose sound system fired up too(and Bose is known for the quality of sound that their systems can produce)the tanks clunking through Private Ryan and Band of Brothers feel like there coming through the living room wall. It is AWESOME. Got to love it. I like my Bravia LCDs a lot. I believe in the Sony Bravia TVs and I guess I will just have to play with the new LED for a while longer before I come to a final conclusion on the LED.

Well, after a week or so of playing with the settings and getting use to the LED compared to the LCD. I would have to say that the Sony Bravia LED does produce an outstanding high clarity picture. It is so clear that it is almost weird. You know how the soap opera shows look like they are being filmed on a set/stage. Well, the clarity to this television makes the night time shows look like that too. Nice television, nice clarity, speaker system bites, but they all do right now. Unless, your plugged into an external sound system. Just weird to see the difference in clarity between an LED & a LCD.

LCD screens based on LED backlight

The new Flat TVs are based on LED technology. Here's how they work and how they go and especially because of the future may become the standard.

The LED system is not the only technology able to "turn on" screens and LCD TVs. There are other promising technologies such as OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) and SED.
The first uses special organic materials and promises lower fuel consumption, fast response times and better brightness, while the latter uses electron guns to illuminate the pixels made of phosphorescent particles.
In this case, a small transmitter, about the size of a nanometer, is placed behind each subpixel of the screen allowing the realization of ultra-thin panels.

The result of the LED technology offers many advantages: brilliant color and a richness of color that no other LCD TV is able to return.

This technology is complemented by an operating frequency of 100 Hz to provide smooth and without streaks sequences .. in short, all LCD screens have the credentials to rival those of plasma, current reference with regard to large-sized screens.

The screen with LED technology is not limited to be used only for TV but also for desktop or laptop computer monitors.

Almost all manufacturers of flat screens seem to want to adopt this technology profitable and promising.
The new MacBook Air uses LED technology for its 13.3-inch backlit screens with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. LED technology reduces power consumption and completely replace the previous architecture for several years was used in the screens of personal computers.

How does an LED screen

When it comes to LED screens do not want a new image generation technology. A more appropriate term would be "based on the LCD screen LED backlighting" because the panel that produces the images is that of a conventional flat screen.

Inside the screen LED emitted light from 2160 small red LEDs, green and blue combine to form a white light. The light beam passes through a diffusion plate that ties it all together.
The most obvious advantage compared to conventional lamp is the best color quality: the neon of traditional LCD screens, it does not return, and a perfect white light must be corrected by using color filters that provide amazing results.

The white light illunina then the liquid crystal panel to form the final image.
The duration of the LCD screen based on LED technology is on the order of 100 thousand hours while that of a conventional screen is 50 thousand hours.
Thanks to LED technology can be built of thick-thin screens a couple of millimeters.

Overall, I'm happy with this TV. I wouldn't call myself a videophile, but the picture quality is quite good to my eyes. Although it's an edge lit LCD, I see no signs of flashlighting, clouding, etc. The black is quite consistant. I had been a bit concerned about buying an edge lit, but I'm glad I did. There aren't as many color controls as on some models, but it should be good enough for most. The audio is OK - nothing special. Bass isn't as strong as I'd like. But I had planned to hook it up to my stereo, so no big loss there for me. Netflix works pretty well. The interface isn't quite as slick as my xbox, but I do find myself using it. Pandora works well, though it locked up once on me. Youtube works well too. There are plenty of inputs. It doesn't support wifi w/o an adapter, but I knew that before I bought, and have it hardwired. DLNA support is pretty good. I have streamed a few movies from my ReadyNas without problems.

A few things that annoyed me:

1) I had seen in several places references to this TV supporting Sony Internet Widgets. Some references (including Sony's website) said it supported them, and some said it would some time in April. As of now (late May, 2011), it does NOT. These are different than Netflix,Pandora, Youtube, etc, which work fine. I've had at least two firmware updates since I hooked the TV up, but still no widgets. <Update>This came in an update back around June - I never use them.

2) The user interface isn't very consistant - there are two or three interfaces hobbled together. The main interface is pretty slick, but it used a different one with a different background for Internet video - the colors used don't really work well together. The interface for the video looks like that from my BlueRay player, so I think they just reused it without a re-skin.

3) Web browsing is useless. The controls are clunky, it's slow, and on a big page, it can run out of memory. There's no flash support.

4) The latest HDMI specs support controlling components over HDMI. Sony claims support (they call it "Sync") but ONLY for sony products. I can control my BlueRay, but not my non-sony stereo. This isn't a huge loss either, since I'm using a Harmony remote, but others might be more annoying to others.

5) (Not Sony's fault) Harmony doesn't support this TV yet (or didn't as of February) - I set it up as a EX500 instead, but had to add a LOT of custom buttons.

This is the third HDTV that I have purchased in the past two years and is the best of the three.

PROS: Very good picture. Though sound is not great, it is better than my two LGs.
It has been used in two rooms and sound is much better in a smaller room. It seems that six feet makes a big difference in sound volume.

The price has dropped $200.00 since I purchased in April 2011.

CONS: If you are not a TV "expert", the remote setup is tiresome because the best version of the owner's manual has to accessed using the remote.

The buttons on the remote are small, up-down keys can be a challenge in a dark room if the input button is pushed and has to reset. I make that comment because the input key can be barely touched and it is activated. The channel and volume keys are at the bottom of the remote unlike most remote which locate them higher on the remote.

This model has been replaced by a newer version making it harder to find and purchase than five months ago.

          I purchased two of these TV's less than a week ago. I unpacked one so and thus far everything is working like advertised. No problems experienced. Picked them up for a great price. So far I have nothing to say negative about the TV. For a rather small TV I feel the sound is very good and I do not need external speakers. I hooked my iMac to this TV to have it act as a second monitor to the iMac. Here is how I did it: I went from the Mini Display Port on the iMac and used a converter to HDMI, then plugged that directly into HDMI 1 on the Sony. Still have 3 HDMI's available. I have an excellent picture out of the box but not sure I have achieved the best picture possible yet, but there are a lot of adjustments that I need to experiment with. I would like to better understand how I can obtain a better picture when I am using the TV as an external monitor to the iMac. It is usable as is, but I feel it needs some adjustments to make it better. Any suggestions are welcomed and I will give them a try. I looked at the AVS site to see what I could find as recommended settings to achieve the max potential, but so far I have not found much information relating to this particular model. I use this as a external monitor to run things like "Adobe Help" and on my iMac screen I might be using Photoshop at the same time. I am able to research and follow directions from the external monitor Sony TV. Lot of real estate on this 32" screen. My model is KDL-32EX520. I also use this set while I am working on my computer to watch TV programs. I will update this review as I become more familiar with the TV.

I bought this 46" Sony to replace a 26" that died in the recent hurricane. I decided that a serious upgrade in size was needed and I was very attracted to the on-board Internet connection and built-in wifi. I was not only not disappointed, I have been thrilled to pieces (with just one minor glitch that I'm sure will be resolved). Set up was extremely easy. I purchased the Sony Home Theater Sony HT-CT150 3D Sound Bar System to enhance the sound quality and the two products sync together. The TV and all components (cable box, DVD, and even my iPod) connect through the subwoofer, which serves as a switching box, so there is only a single cable going into the TV. With Bravia Sync you can control the sound system with the TV remote. I still have to switch channels when watching through cable with the cable remote.

The HD picture is nothing short of astounding. Really beautiful, sharp, clear, vibrant. Watching nature shows and movies on this set is a revelation. Movies look fabulous, and in my apartment-sized living room, the size of the screen makes you feel like you're in a screening room. I will have very little need to ever pay movie theater ticket prices again.

The one glitch so far is that I can't seem to get the streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon) to play through the sound system. I suspect that I will need to get on line with Sony customer service to fix this. Also, one of my HDMI ports had a somewhat loose connection and the screen would periodically back out for a fraction of a second. I fixed this by switching ports and now it is fine.

This is an excellent TV that I highly recommend. It's very interesting, also, that five years ago, when I bought my first flat screen HD TV, a 26", I paid about $250 more than I just paid for this TV on Amazon. Go figure.

I read all the other reviews but I got this TV as a "no hassle warantee replacement" for another Sony that had a panel go out on me. The difference between my old one and this is that this one has Edge LED Backlight and internet connectivity. Because I read the previous reviews, I was prepared before the set arrived. I bought a CAT 7 LAN cable in case I had to hardwire it, but I wanted to try wireless first. The wireless works great for me, but then I have a Linksys maximum performance dual band N router. The TV uses the 5.1ghz band while my computers and printers use the 2.4ghz band simultaneously. I set the router up first with WPA-2 security and my chosen SSID and Security key. DO NOT use the WPS setup even though this router has the capability. What happens when you do, is the router generates a random set of security keys and then you have to go back and reconfigure all your other stuff so they will work. Choose the manual configuration and scan for and select your network SSID, then input your preset security key. Boom - Done. My cable modem and router are in a stand with my cable box, dvd, blu-ray, etc. about 3' below the wall mounted TV. So far the streaming movies work well, and I would not expect then to all be free. I bought the router and Sony Wireless LAN adapter refurbished and saved a chunk of money. I do this frequently because they are TWICE BAKED as far as factory inspections go.

I also was disappointed with the sound at first, but I went to the sound setup and selected the surround sound feature and adjusted the treble - bass so everything became clear as a bell. Best TV sound I ever had. I also have some Sony wireless headsets that have built in DTS and Dolby Digital decoders.

What can I say about the picture. Nothing bad, but I do take the time to go through the entire setup procedures and tweak everything the way I like.

I will agree that the wireless LAN adapter is overpriced, but that what Sony does.

I haven't tried connecting my computer to it yet, but I have ordered a 15' HDMI cable that I will use to try.

The split screen feature is the best I have ever used.

          I bought this for my (not very deep) living room. I didn't want a TV to dominate the whole room. I think this is perfect. The picture is excellent, sound is ok (I'm not an audiophile, however. It's nice looking (yes, I am that shallow). I haven't tried streaming Netflix from the set but everything I have tried works perfectly. Am very happy with the purchase. And buying through Amazon is a dream.

          I purchased the tv brand new through Amazon and it was delivered to me on 9/8/2011. Perfect timing because that night was the kickoff to the NFL regular season. So I got to watch the Saints vs Packers game. Folks the picture on this Sony with the HUGE screen is simply breathtaking. This is right out of the carton with no calibration. I felt like I was on the field with the players. The mammoth 60 inch screen really does immerse you into the action. If your a football fan then you need the Sony KDL60NX720 3D LED HDTV. I haven't checked out the 3D yet but I will once I decide on what glasses to get. Can't wait to see an NCAA football game in 3D on ESPN.

I am extraordinarily pleased with this purchase. I replaced a 12 year old Pioneer Elite 62" rear projection HDTV that was too old to support HDMI. It had an incredible picture for most of it's life but was starting to dim and the convergence was going away. The Sony's picture quality is just superb. The contrast is as good as most of the plasmas I looked at. The Gorilla Glass really makes a difference. It has the nice glossy look but no glare. It is far better in this regard than my Pioneer was. I still can't believe how thin it is when I walk past it. The off-angle viewing is really good as well. I've read that LCDs struggle in that area but I can't tell with this one.

I have an older Onkyo home theater receiver and I opted to connect all my HDMI sources (PS3, XBOX 360, Cable, Apple TV) to the TV and ran optical digital audio to the Onkyo. It just worked. My Logitech Harmony One controller had no issues controlling it.

The price really sealed the deal. At most places I looked the price was $750 higher than what I paid. I was worried about buying a TV online but the delivery was uneventful.

Sony BRAVIA KDL46NX720 46 inch 1080p 3D LED HDTV with Built-in WiFi Review

Well, my son loaned me his 40 inch TV to take the place of my 5 year old 30 inch TV. I loved the bigger TV because it was so much easier on my aging eyes. I loved that bigger TV...for a solid 8 days, until it broke. I couldn't simply go back to my 30 incher, so I finally bit the bullet and purchased this TV. After watching it for a week or so, I am very glad I did so.

The setup was reasonably easy and quick. The TV found my network and connected with no problems. The Internet setup of this TV is somewhat different than that of the Sony Blu-ray I purchased to accompany the TV. The Blu-ray allows me to easily access Amazon's free-to-Prime customers downloads of movies and TV shows. I haven't been able to figure out how to make the TV access as easy. Of course, I don't "need" the TV access because I have access via the Blu-ray player, but in some sense it would still be nice if I could use the TV itself for access. I don't (yet) subscribe to Netflex or similar services, so unfortunately I have no comment on their ease of use. Edited to add: After the TV updated itself (very easy!) it no longer was able to connect to the Internet. My computer-expert son had to manually connect it. If I was able to subtract a halof-star so that the rating was 4.5 stars, I would do so.

The instruction book is on the skimpy side. Thankfully there is an "i-manual" on the TV itself, which is handy. Still, I guess I'd have liked more detail in the print manual, especially about issues such as setting up Internet access. On the plus side, the TV just finished up-dating its software with no glitches, so I know that my Internet access is at least semi OK.

The picture on the TV seems significantly brighter than that on the old TVs. I like this feature. A feature that takes a bit more to get used to is how the TV handles scenes with rapid (or, even in some cases, not so rapid) motion. Often the people or objects seem to "glide" across the scene. It's hard to describe but I think that once you see it, you'll understand. Presently this effect is somewhat jarring, but as I've watched more on the TV, this effect has become somewhat less disconcerting. Perhaps ultimately I'll grow accustomed to it.

The TV definitely runs much cooler than did my 5-year old 30 inch TV or, especially, the 4-year old 40 inch TV. I expect that this difference is due to the use of LCDs as the light source. Given that I live in Florida, this heat saving is hugely appreciated.

One drawback is that the package did not include any 3-D glasses. Because I doubt I'll ever watch much (or any) 3-D at home, this point does not bother me.

Amazon's delivery was first class. The TV even came a day earlier than initially promised. Of course, unless you live next door to me and get the same delivery person, your mileage may vary.

Another huge advantage has been Amazon's low-price guarantee. Merely by checking on Amazon's web page, I have (so far) saved slightly more than $250 by submitting multiple "found a lower price" link to Amazon. Perhaps if I was more ambitious and looked at still more websites, I could save even more, but checking Amazon's alone is just so easy....

EDIT: As I have gained experience with the TV, I'd subtract another half star (and be down to 4 stars) due to frustrating Internet access and even more annoying Sony help. At 12:00 noon today, the Internet access was fine. We watched a free-to-Amazon Prime customer TV show. But at 6:30, with absolutely no changes, it failed. After 30 minutes of repeatedly successfully connecting to my network and the Internet(at least according to the TV) and still being unable to access Amazon I decided to use the apparently helpful Sony help screen built into the TV. There was a nice 800 number, which I dialed...only to discover that 7:10PM Eastern time is "after hours" for Sony help and if I wanted to talk to someone, I had to call some other long-distance number. I decided I'd call tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed...

          I was watching this set at Sams for a couple months as it dropped in price. Every time I would go there, I would stop and watch Tron Legacy 3D and be totally amazed.
          When the price dropped to $1,820, I finally gave in and bought it, and it was the last one. One my way out the door, A man walking in with his wife pointed to it and said "That's it, that's the one we're here to buy". sorry buddy.
          Anyway, after getting it home, I was amazed how easy it was to remove from the box. The clips are a great idea and they allow you to disassemble the box instead of having to rip out staples. When you're done, you can reassemble the box and store it, just in case you have to return it.
          The picture quality, being HD 120hz, is totally amazing. This set replaces a 55" plasma. HD is much sharper and brighter now.
          Initial setup was easy. Only problem is that it apparently doesn't know that Vizio sells a 3d Blu-Ray player, so I can't program the remot for it.
          The remote is a slider with keyboard for internet apps.
          It comes with 4 pair of passive glasses, but Amazon sells more pretty cheap.
3d pic is amazing. depending on what you are watching, it sometimes fuzzes out and hurts your eyes. But we sat through 3 movies back to back without much eyesore. Best movie so far is Resident Evil: Afterlife. It has a lot of "whoah!" scenes that my daughter constantly replays.
Another amazing feature is no heat! My plasma heats up the entire living room, where this thing gives off practically no heat at all!
          We did have trouble with the audio at first, but after reading a couple reviews, replaced the hdmi cables with the new v1.4(?) style, and now the audio is amazing.
          Not sure why Sams was selling it so cheap, but do your homework and look around for the best pricing.
          My entire family loves it!
          I see no degradation from various viewing angles or distances. But I agree with the 10' minimum. It still looks good even from 2' away, but it will hurt your eyes.
The 3d channels on DirecTV have awesome shows, but not much selection. The free ones show the same shows over and over. Still waiting to see if ESPN 3D wil broadcast any NFL games. As of week 2, they haven't.

The XVT3d554SV is fantastic. I have had it only 1 week and it's great. Have not used 3D yet, but 2D is stunning. The colors and clarity is amazing. Setup was easy. The WIFI was easy to setup also. The 55" was a perfect choice. Watching HD is like being there in person.

Would I recommend this TV.... Yes

Vizio? Riiight. I thought the same thing until I had to return 2 consecutive Samsungs due to dead or stuck pixels. Ok, frak it, let's try Visio, the stats are good on paper.

To make a long story short this TV delivers, old school style--awesome performance and stats without the name brand premium. I wouldn't trade back for the Samsung, dead pixels or no. 5 stars. A lot of detail went into this.

Have had the Visio XVT3D42SV TV a little over a month and have had zero problems. The 42" TV was the largest that would fit in the wall cut-out in my den--otherwise, I would have bought the 55" version. The setup instructions were clear and easy to follow. Connected to the internet via wireless and to my netflix account with no problems. Color and sharpness are excellent. As one reviewer noted, however, you need to turn off the feature that automatically adjusts the picture for ambient light--picture too dark until I turned off that feature (in "TV Settings"). Have not used the 3D feature so cannot comment on that.

My one negative is the sound, just barely adequate. However, last weekend I bought the VIZIO VHT510 5.1 Surround Sound Home Theater with Wireless Subwoofer ($300). What an amazing difference in sound quality--but the soundbar setup instructions are poor (unlike the TV instructions). My sound bar sits in front of the TV and connects wirelessly to the subwoofer which is behind the listening area (in a corner--recommended). Two additional speakers connect via wires to the subwoofer. Works perfectly for my room arrangement. Reviewers have noted some issues with the soundbar (related only to LED malfunctions) but so far I have seen none of them. I sometimes have a problem separating dialog from the background music, traffic, explosions, etc. The soundbar solved that problem. I hear dialog much better now. And the bass can vibrate the room furniture.

The two Visio products produce a very nice listening and viewing experience.

The apps are nice. Better than TiVo apps, better than my Blu-Ray's apps.

Full LED backlighting, not edge only like Samsungs.

Happy with this purchase.

          I like the TV. I told my wife "it makes me fell like we were watching our old TV through cheesecloth". But, I find the remote very inconvenient. The buttons are so small and must be hit just right or they do not register. That is a real challenge with the digital numbers where there are more than two numbers and some need the dash or period between numbers. I bought a $12 remote to change channels that works like a charm for that and is backlit on top of it. If I need to use the menu, I use the TV remote. The TV has a great picture and we are happy with it.

I spent days researching different models and reading both professional and customer reviews before choosing this TV. I made the right choice!

The picture is superb HD quality, it's easy to set up and use, and the features are fabulous. I wanted a TV that connected to the Internet using my home network and let me view Netflix easily (rather than hooking up my laptop to the TV as I had done before to watch a movie) as well as cable, DVDs, etc. I was astonished at how simple this was to set up, and how well everything works.

I also like the remote with the mini-keyboard!

All in all, I'm totally satisfied with my purchase and I heartily recommend it.

          I bought this tv for the bedroom and could not be happier with it. I received it on 16 September 2011 and really enjoy what it's capable of. The main reason for this tv was the Netflix capability and having the wireless antenna built it is by far the only way to go for future tvs. Picture is sexy smooth and just as nice as my 120hz 46" Samsung I bought almost 2 years ago. The remote feels cheap, especially the sliding keyboard but we won't put heavy use on it anyway. Mounted to the wall and it looks great and is quite light for all the features it has. Speakers are not as bad as I was expecting, meaning I thought I was going to need a surround sound to hear this but it puts out some good mid range and high frequencies well. Bass of course won't be something you buy this for anyway.

          Got the tv for an amazing price (800 less than regular price) and couldn't be happier. I am upgrading from a 40 inch Sony v3000 that I nought 4 years ago. That tv was amazing. But granted I didn't know much about tvs back then. Later I learned all about ghosting and clouding and found out my tv had it too except I am not really sensitive to it. But I decided the next tv I am gonna get, I will make sure it's as flawless as it can be. Wanted to get the hx929 but it was a bit out of my price range so I went for the hx820 instead. I saw the previous version hx800 last year and got that one for a friend. That tv was the best tv price vs performance wise according to many pro websites, and hx820 is supposed to improve over that too. So it was a blind purchase for me. Never saw this tv at a store and directly ordered it from amazon. Got it a week later with no shipping damage. They helped me to unpack it and plugged it in too to check if it's working. The first thing I said after looking at the tv was damnnn that looks soooo sexy. The monolithic design is just amazing. Anyway I set it up and started watching some local hd channels over the antenna and found the picture a bit too over saturated and grainy (and I am not picky at all so I was surprised at how bad the picture is to even make me notice..he'll even my mom noticed it and said something is wrong with the color. And thus began my very first try to calibrate a tv.
          The few reviews that came out for this tv, only one of them mentioned calibration settings tvinfo.com or something. And there settings sucked even more (no wonder they rated the tv low since they didn't know how to calibrate themselves). So I went to cnet's hx929 review and used it's setting. And wow..the improvement was just mind boggling. But I knew that's a local dimming tv and I have to calibrate it more to make it look even better. But I decided to do it at night with lights turned off so that I can check the clouding and flash lighting too.
          So in the dark I was able to see some flash lighting and very little clouding but wasn't alarmed coz I know every edge lit LCD and LEDs will have it. It's inherent to the technology they use.. So I started playing with the settings again..specially backlight and brightness and I got rid of 99% of the flash lighting and all of clouding. And then I wanted to see how this setting look in the morning and found out it's a bit too dark. So more playing with settings again and finally I was able to find that perfect balance in black level...color..no flash lighting and clouding ...in short AMAZING PICTURE.
          Among other things..I believe it handles motion well although I am not sensitive to it. The viewing angle isn't the best, it tends to lose contrast at 30 degrees and at 60 degrees it's quite noticeable but it's true for all lcds and not a big concern for me. Some pro reviews mentioned problems with fast motion in blu ray at 1080p 24p although no USERS
          3D looks amazing although I am not a big 3 D person. S will hardly use it. Sound is terrible. Even my mom noticed it. So u probably need some external audio system. The extra Internet features are handy and there are plenty of them if you want to use them. I don't. I have it connected to my Mac (htpc)with hdmi and it works flawlessly in 1080p.
          All I will say is spend some time adjusting settings and it will look like a million bucks. If you are scared to mess with the settings get a pro calibrator. It will be worth it to extract 100% from what this tv can offer. Hope I have covered anything. Lave a comment if you have other questions and I will try to answer it to the best of my knowledge.

Sony BRAVIA KDL46HX820 46-Inch LED HDTV with Built-in WiFi Review

          This KDL46HX820 Bravia is absolutely wonderful. I got it very quickly through Amazon's great shipping department (3 days after ordering it). It took a total of 10 minutes to unpack, attach the base, and make it through the setup process. Linking my Netflix and Amazon streaming video was a snap also. The sound is very good, for just using the TV speakers alone. I am going to set it up with a home theater system as soon as I decide on witch one to buy. I have an LG sound-bar that I used on the Samsung TV that this one replaced, but I want to go for a true home theater system. I did not run into any problems with the picture quality, in fact, the 2D system is the best that I have ever had (I have not used the 3D yet, and probably won't for a while, though I did get one pair of Sony active 3D glasses with it.) The local dimming has shown no problems that were reported in some of the reviews for this set. This is the second Sony TV that I have owned, the other one was a rear projection 50" that I purchased some 5 years ago and that I replaced with the Samsung LED TV that this one replaced. My experience with that TV was not as good as this one, and I was a little apprehensive when I first ordered it. I am glad I chose to ignore some of the reviews that had been posted that gave it poor marks for the local dimming and am glad I did. I would highly recomend this TV to anyone wishing to have a 46" class TV. I am confident that it will last me a very long time.
